Family Medicine Interest Group

The Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) serves as a resource for students considering primary care. The FMIG had another highly successful year under the leadership of a Student Executive Committee. The group sponsors several activities that attract large numbers of students, including the highly successful, annual Primary Care Residency Fair, offering students a broad exposure to residency training programs throughout the region. The FMIG also sponsors a graduation dinner for FMIG students, faculty, and 4th year students who have matched in family practice. Other events included an office procedures workshop, talks by a variety of Family Physicians, and a graduation dinner.

Students in the FMIG are eligible for free membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians. The Ohio Academy will pay the dues for a medical student's first two years. This membership includes a free subscription to American Family Physician (a $40 value), a bimonthly Resident/Student newsletter, and other benefits.
