CURRICULUM

CLASS OF 2009

In order to receive the MD degree from the Case School of Medicine, students must satisfactorily complete all components of the School of Medicine curriculum and pass the USMLE Steps 1 and 2. They must exhibit knowledge adequate for advanced training in medicine along with the ability to use this knowledge in the care of patients.  Students must demonstrate fundamental clinical skills, and students must be competent, professional, and humane health care providers.  The knowledge base required is not just a repository of facts, but also a capacity for independent learning and problem-solving.  Clinical skills include not only the ability to carry out medical procedures, but the possession of appropriate interpersonal skills as well.  The competent, humane physician assumes responsibility for the care of the patient and the patient’s family, and works effectively as a member of the health care team.

The listing of requirements for graduation is subject to change under the appropriate medical school and university procedures.  In addition to curriculum requirements, all financial obligations to the University must be met in a timely fashion in order to graduate.
