David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D., a 1970 double alumnus, is a former president of Meharry Medical College in Nashville and former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. Dr. Satcher served as Surgeon General of the United States from 1998 to 2002.
Dr. Satcher is currently the Director of the Satcher Health Leadership Institute and the Center of Excellence on Health Disparities at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, where he also occupies the Poussaint-Satcher-Cosby Chair in Mental Health.
