APPLICATION PROCESS & FORMS
In the event that your primary selection is filled, you are advised to list two alternate choices. The application must contain all of the requested information from both the applicant and the appropriate Dean. Your Dean's office must verify all completed Core Clerkships.
- Students must request dates for participation according to the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine's Calendar, listed under this link Elective Listings & Academic Calendar.
- All applications will be considered in the order in which they are received, after all CWRU students have been scheduled.
- We are unable to determine if a hospital has space available, or if you will be accepted for the applied elective of your choice. When your application is received, and it is complete, we send your request to the hospital's coordinators and they will notify us of your acceptance. If you are not accepted for that elective choice, we move on to your next choice. You will be contacted if we have exhausted all of your choices, or if the elective that you have chosen does not accept visiting students.
- Registration in an elective will be confirmed only after the application form has been received and approved. Students will be notified via email when their application is received, and when an elective has been approved and confirmed.
NOTE: Cancellation of an elective requires at least one month advance notice.
Cancellation Policy
All visiting students are asked to remember that House Staff and Attending Physician schedules are planned several months in advance. Final confirmation of acceptance into an elective must be binding unless unforeseen circumstances make participation impossible.
