Bio

Sanjay P Ahuja, MD, MSc, MBA is a pediatric cancer & blood disorders specialist (hematology and oncology) and Director of Rainbow Hemostasis & Thrombosis Center in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. He is Associate Professor, Pediatrics, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Dr. Ahuja is board certified in pediatrics and hematology-oncology, and his special interest is pediatric hemostasis, including bleeding and clotting disorders in children. He joined the UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital staff in 2008 from Kosair Children’s Hospital, part of University of Louisville in Louisville, KY.

Dr Ahuja graduated Medical School from Seth G.S.Medical College in Mumbai, India.. He served a residency in pediatrics at Lincoln Medical Center, Cornell University in New York, and a fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pa. While doing a fellowship at University of Pittsburgh, he obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Research from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Dr. Ahuja’s clinical research interest is in the treatment of pediatric hemostatic disorders, including hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, ITP, thrombosis, PE and other rare pediatric bleeding & clotting disorders. He currently is part of Hemophilia & Thrombosis Research Society (HTRS), a premier society for the nation’s experts in bleeding and clotting disorders. He is Primary Investigator on a number of early phase trials in newer anti-coagulants in children as well as longer-acting factor VIII and IX products. He is also Principal Investigator on a regional registry for women with heavy menstrual bleeding. He has participated in research presented at prestigious international and national medical meetings, including the HTRS Annual meeting and the American Society of Pediatric Hematology.

Dr. Ahuja has published numerous articles since 2001 in peer-reviewed scientific and medical journals, primarily in the field of pediatric hemostasis and bone marrow transplant, and she is a reviewer for several journals, including Hemophilia, Pediatric Hematology & Oncology.

He is a member of the American Society of Hematology, Children’s Oncology Group, American Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology and the Hemophilia & Thrombosis Research Society.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Ahuja chairs the Department of Pediatrics Clinical Effectiveness Team, a committee responsible for implementation and maintainance of eletronic health records at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. He is also the Co-chair of the University Hospital’s CMIO committee. He earned an MBA from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH in 2014.
