Bio

Dr. Arruda graduated from medical school in Recife, Brazil in 1984. Following three years of adult cardiology training and one year of congenital heart disease training in Sao Paulo, Brazil, she spent two years at the Hospital For Sick Children, University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada as a clinical research and echocardiography fellow. Her publications focused on the late cardiotoxicity effects of chemotherapy in childhood cancer and coarctation of the aorta.

Dr. Arruda completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma, University of Oklahoma and her pediatric cardiology fellowship at Children’s Memorial Hospital, Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Arruda served as an assistant professor on the faculty of the Loyola University Medical Center for one year before joining the Cleveland Clinic where she served as a staff pediatric cardiologist for ten years.

Dr. Arruda joined Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital as the medical director of the pediatric cardiology non-invasive imaging laboratory in 2014. Besides general pediatric cardiology, her special interests include echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in congenital heart disease and the cardiac manifestations of neuromuscular disorders.
