Robert Stern, MD, is a specialist in pediatric lung diseases in the Division of Pulmonology, Allergy, Immunology and Sleep Medicine at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. He is Professor, Pediatrics, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Dr. Stern is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology. His special interest is cystic fibrosis in children and adults. He was appointed to the UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital staff in 1971.

Dr. Stern earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology and chemistry from Drew University, Madison, N.J., and a doctorate in medicine from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, N.Y. He served a residency in pediatrics at UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital and Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, New York, N.Y. Following two years of military service as a captain at the United States Air Force Hospital, Grissom Air Force Base, Peru, Ind., Dr. Stern completed his postdoctoral training with a fellowship in cystic fibrosis and pediatric pulmonary diseases at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Dr. Stern’s research interest is cystic fibrosis. He has published more than 125 research papers in peer-reviewed medical journals on cystic fibrosis and other pediatric pulmonary diseases. He also has nearly three dozen books and book chapters to his credit.
