Bio

Nadzeya Marozkina, MD, PhD graduated from Belarusian State Medical University, Belarus in 1997 with a MD degree. She continued her education in Institute of Radiobiology of the National Academy of Science, Belarus, where she graduated with a PhD degree in Biochemistry in 2000. Dr. Marozkina's thesis was devoted the roles of antioxidants in cancer prevention and cancer therapy modulation.

Following her graduation from MD/PhD program in Belarus Dr. Marozkina moved to the USA were she was working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Virginia. She was doing cancer research working on transgenic mouse model, which she developed. In 2011 Dr. Marozkina was appointed as Assistant Professor of Research, Department of Pediatrics, University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville, VA. Here she used her knowledge of biochemistry and medicine to do research in S-Nitrosothiol biology in children’s’ diseases, such as asthma and cystic fibrosis. Dr. Marozkina continued research in S-Nitrosothiol biology when she was appointed in 2012 as an Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH.

In summary, her passion is to be involved in bringing safe, effective new treatments to patients. She has come full-circle, from her MD/PhD clinical trials background - through basic molecular biology and biochemistry - and now back to translational work on asthma and cystic fibrosis. At present time Dr. Marozkina’s research focuses on S-nitrosylation signaling and oxidative chemistry. She has shown this biochemistry to be relevant to asthma, cystic fibrosis, cancer and primary ciliary dyskinesia.
