Bio

Dr. Bonfield received her undergraduate degree in chemistry and biology from John Carroll University. She earned her master's degree in experimental pathology in 1987 and her doctorate of philosophy in immunopathology in 1991 from Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Bonfield received The American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology Certification in 2006. She has authored or co-authored 53 publications, 5 book chapters and several abstracts.

Her laboratory focuses on understanding chronic lung inflammation in the context of atopic disease or infection. Their models are pre-clinical from the bench to the bedside for diseases such as asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary disease and allergy/anaphylaxis. They are innovative in technology and have very diverse directions in experimental directions. They traditionally have high school students, undergraduates, medical students, residents, interns and fellows as well as provide a resource for clinical faculty for their research interest.
