Dear Case CCC Investigators and Staff,
The Case Western Reserve University (Case) Cancer Institutional Review Board (IRB) will modify the procedure for submission of all human subject cancer related review materials using a database system. This system is slated to begin beta testing in 2009. iMedRIS Data Corporation is providing the software web-based application by incorporating the submission and review process into iRIS. The Case IACUC and University Hospitals Case Medical Center IRB will also be using iRIS.
We will identify a group of investigators and staff to begin a beta testing group in the first half of 2009. When the testing phase of the application is complete the Case Cancer IRB will announce a date when the protocol submission will become 100% electronic. The Case Cancer IRB will continue to meet on a weekly basis at which time protocols are presented by the primary reviewers and voted on by the full Committee. We will continue to follow the submission deadlines we have used since 2006. Protocols to be reviewed at any given meeting must now be submitted to the Case Cancer IRB office by Tuesday of the previous week.
There will be training sessions available for all investigators and staff prior to the requirement of 100% electronic submissions. IRB staff will be available to assist users with the submission process. Please continue to visit the Case Cancer IRB web site for notices and updates regarding training opportunities. As always the Cancer IRB Office will continue to do our best in providing efficient and through reviews for the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center.
