Overview
The Case Transgenic and Targeting Facility is the sole service generating genetically modified mice for the Cleveland Biomedical community. The transgenic facility supports researchers affiliated with Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals Cleveland, Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, Taussig Cancer Center, the VA Hospital, Metro-Health Hospital, and the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute. Services include generating transgenic and gene targeted mice, performing rederivations, in vitro fertilization, ICSI, cryopreservation and customized support. A laboratory suite of ~1700 square feet adjacent to a state of the art animal facility houses the transgenic facility and is equipped with four microinjection stations, two tissue culture hoods and three surgery hoods. The transgenic facility operates on a fee-for-service basis, and provides consultation with all services. The Case Transgenic & Targeting Facility web site: http://ko.cwru.edu/ has original material designed to inform and educate investigators while they place orders online. A transgenic facility member contacts the investigator for individual consultation and the investigator receives a web page link on which they can track job progress. Current rates of success, fees, and estimates of job handling times can be found on this website.
