Administrative support
for research is provided through the SOM Office of Research
Administration, the central point of reference for all
issues related to regulatory requirements and compliance,
funding information, preparation and administration of
grants and contracts, and core resources. Specific needs
are addressed through the specialized units, such as the
Office of Grants and Contracts, the Institutional Review
Board Office, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
Office, and the future Clinical Trials Office.
The ORA itself provides overarching organizational support
for the School’s research programs by planning and
implementing informational programs for the research community,
coordinating with other campus units and committees that
affect the conduct and support for research, providing
compliance oversight, developing research policies and
procedures, and providing orientation and assistance to
faculty researchers. The ORA supports all units within
the research administration structure and ensures appropriate
information technology, compliance, and staff support
for all units.
