The effects of nicotine on amyloid beta protein aggregation (Principal investigator Michael Zagorski, PhD, Department of Chemistry, CWRU)

We have reported that nicotine inhibits the aggregation of amyloid ß protein, enhancing itssolubility of this important protein in vitro. Nicotine and related compounds are
being studied for effect on amyloid ß aggregation. This work may have important implications for the development of anti-amyloid therapies.
