WHAT IS MEDICAL SIMULATION?

Overview of Medical Simulation

Simulation in the broadest sense is simply the representation of one system by another. Simulation can be used for both education and evaluation. It is a cornerstone for the new education paradigm of Mastery Learning. Non-technical simulation employs role play and/or actors such as standardized patients. Technical skills may be practiced used partial task trainers or complete manikin systems. Knowledge and decision making skills can be gained through software and web-based simulation. Full scale simulation integrates technical and non-technical elements in a realistic environment.
