- Avatar: the participant’s graphic representation in a simulation or game
- BabySim ®: METI infant manikin
- Briefing: introduction to the simulation experience
- Debriefing: review of performance and delivery of feedback
- Distributed Learning: synonym for laptop or web-based simulation
- Fidelity: realism of simulated environment
- Full Scale Simulation: high fidelity representation of the clinical care environment including team actors and manikins
- Haptics: conveying the sense of touch
- Hybrid: simulation that combines technical and communication skills but is short of full scale simulation
- Manikin (mannequin): full or half body representation of a patient for practice
- Microsimulation: synonym for laptop or web-based simulation
- Moulage: simulation of tissue pathology
- SimBaby ®: Laerdal infant manikin
- SimMan ®: Laerdal adult manikin
- Standard Man (Stan) ®: METI full scale advanced physiologic manikin
