M.D. Thesis
The research project will culminate in an M.D. thesis. The work for the thesis
is performed primarily during the 4-month research block. The M.D. thesis may
include research done during the summer following year 1 and during the
elective research opportunities in years 3-4. However, these periods may not
substitute for the 4-month block.
The format of the thesis is the format of the leading journal in the field of
interest, as described in the "Instructions to authors" at the website of the
particular journal. The expectation will be that the thesis work forms the
basis for all or part of a manuscript, although publication will not be
required for approval of the thesis.
The M.D. thesis is due by January 15 of year 4 online at the student's
ePortfolio MyResearch site. The Medical Student Research Committee will review
and evaluate the M.D. theses. Graduation requires approval of the M.D. thesis.
The CWRU School of Medicine library is making arrangements to make these theses
available online to a wider audience through OhioLink. Any arrangements that
are made will require consent of the student and advisor. Any online access
will not interfere with publication of the work in the peer-reviewed
literature.
