Funding Opportunities
Summer research projects
Stipends for summer research projects are available from the Crile Research
Fellowship Program (please see "Summer Research" icon to the left). Once a
student selects a faculty member and a project, other opportunities include
short-term research training grants for students interested in heart, lung,
blood and sleep disorders (see "Summer Research" icon), private foundations
interested in a particular disease, departmental commitments to medical student
research, and stipends provided by the mentor. A list of granting agencies with
programs that support short term medical student research is available at
here. Opportunities for summer research working with an investigator at
the National Institutes of Health are available through the Summer Student
Fellowship Program.
Deadlines for applications can be as early as November for a July start.
Opportunities for longer periods of research
Funding for longer periods including an additional year is provided by
fellowships from private foundations as described at
here.
Opportunities to spend a year at the NIH working with an investigator are
available through the Year-Off Training Program for Graduate or Medical
Students.
