SEARCH RESEARCH INTEREST HELP

Research Interest:

     There are 2 text boxes to enter the word(s)/phrase to search. Default condition for the keywords/terms entered in the first text box is "Or". The system will search for the results on atleast one of the word entered in the text box. It can be changed to "And"/ "Phrase". Other text box is useful when the search must avoid the keywords/terms entered. Please do not use "AND", "OR", "LIKE", "PHRASE", "NOT " in the text box for the word search.

  * And

    Is used search for faculty with research interests that contain at least one occurrence of each of the terms. (e.g. "skin cancer dematology" will search for all research interests that contain "skin", "cancer" and "dermatology".)

  * Or

    Is used to search for faculty with research interests that contain at least one occurrence of the keywords/terms. (e.g. "skin cancer dermatology" will search for all research interests that contain either "skin" or "cancer" or "dematology" terms.)

  * Phrase

    Is used to search for faculty with research interests that contain the keywords/terms together in a phrase. (e.g. "skin cancer" will search for all research interests that contain the phrase skin cancer together, but none of the research interests with just "skin" or just "cancer" will be returned.)

  * Not

    Is used to search for the faculty with research interests that doesnot contain any of the keywords/terms entered in the second text box. (e.g. "skin cancer dermatology" will search for all research interests that contain neither "skin" nor "cancer" and nor "dematology" terms.)

Faculty Name:

     Faculty's first and/or last name can also be entered to search research interests. Both have 2 options Begins with and exactly. By default for Last name "Exactly" option is selected and for first name "Begins with" option is selected.

  * Begins With

    Is used search for faculty with research interests whose first/last name begins with the letter(s) entered in the first/last name. (e.g. "Jam" entered in the first name text box will search for all the research interests for faculty having first name starting with "Jam".)

  * Exactly

    Is used to search for faculty with research interests whose faculty's first/last name spell exactly like the letter(s) entered in the first/last name. (e.g. "Smith" entered in the last name text box will search for all the research interests for faculty having last name exactly like "Smith".)
