Foundations of Research and Scholarship
The required seminar course entitled "Foundations of Research and Scholarship"
meets during the first and second years. The goals of this course are:

To describe the forefront research questions in many areas of medicine
-
To provide examples of research technologies and approaches that are used to
study forefront questions.

To provide examples of outstanding research programs led by CWRU faculty
members that set the expectations for students in selecting their research
advisors and projects.
Most of the sessions will be given by CWRU faculty who are physician/scientists
and clinician investigators leading active research programs or directors of
core centers. This course includes seminars by:

faculty members who lead active research programs and centers and provide
examples of excellent research opportunities;

faculty heading critical forefront core centers and technologies such as
proteomics, genomics, animal and cellular imaging, bioinformatics,
biostatistics, and epidemiology;

research leadership describing practical aspects of performing research and
fulfilling the research and scholarship requirement.
