Postdoctoral trainees earn not only financial support but also a career boost when they win funding for their own
research. There are numerous sources for postdoctoral grant support, each with specific requirements and deadlines.
One good place to survey grants in your discipline is to use the searchable site - grantsnet.org. You can also create a personal profile and receive updates on potential grants
at Community of Science.
Specific agencies and organizations fund postdoctoral researchers, including:
National Institutes of Health (NRSA). There are over 20 institutes at the NIH, and each has policies regarding
postdoctoral fellowships in the field. For each institute, see
http://www.nih.gov:80/icd/ and look up training.
