POSTDOCTORAL OPPORTUNITIES |
The National Research Council of the National Academies sponsors a number of awards for postdoctoral researchers at
federal laboratories. These awards provide generous stipends ($36,000 - $65,000), and the opportunity to do
independent research in some of the best-equipped and staffed laboratories in the country.
Detailed program information, including instructions on how to apply and a list of participating laboratories, is
available on the NRC Research Associateship Programs website at
http://www.national-academies.org/rap.
Applicants should begin a dialog with prospective advisors at the lab as early as possible, before their
anticipated application deadline. Please direct questions to the NRC at 202-334-2760 or
rap@nas.edu.
The K12 Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Training Program (MCRTP) was
developed as part of the NIH Roadmap initiative to "re-engineer the clinical
research enterprise." The MCRTP is beginning its second round of recruitment
and selection. The Case/Cleveland Clinic Foundation MCRTP seeks outstanding
candidates to fill Clinical Research Scholar positions.
We are particularly interested in receiving applications from minority
candidates.
The award is intended for individuals at a relatively early stage of
training (e.g. just after the PhD degree, during, or immediately following a
clinical fellowship, or within the early years of a faculty appointment).
Qualified candidates will hold an MD, PhD or equivalent degree, and have
demonstrated interest in careers that focus on patient-oriented or
translational research. We are interested in a diverse group of Scholars
and invite applications from physicians, nurses, dentists, social and
behavioral scientists, engineers, biostatisticians, epidemiologists,
bioethicists, and other professionals with expertise relevant to clinical
research. Successful candidates will receive salary and benefits
commensurate with prior experience and qualifications, research stipend,
tuition benefits, and access to a multidisciplinary pool of highly qualified
mentors who will guide their research projects. Each selected Scholar will
embark on a 2 year to 4 year program of intensive training in
multidisciplinary team-based patient-oriented research, combining a novel
curriculum with mentored research experiences. Applicants must be U.S.
citizens or have permanent resident status.
