CLEVELAND HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY

The Cleveland Health Sciences Library was formed in 1966 and operates in two locations: The Allen Memorial Medical Library, which has a collection of clinical books and journals, and which is home to the Dittrick Medical History Center and its collection of rare books, archives, medical artifacts, and books on the history of medicine, and the Health Center Library, which has a collection of basic sciences, nursing, dentistry, and biology books, journals, audiovisuals, and microforms. The combined collections total over 475,000 volumes including electronics and collectibles and over 2500 journal subscriptions both print and electronic within scope. Both libraries are open to the public for in-house use of most materials. Personal and institutional members of the CMLA, and faculty, students and staff of CWRU have borrowing privileges. The Cleveland Health Sciences Library serves as a resource library in the Greater Midwest Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. CHSL also participates in OhioLINK, OHIONET, and OCLC.
