Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine builds upon a proud tradition of biomedical research excellence. Founded in 1843, the School was among the first to employ full-time instructors and spearheaded the instruction of women physicians. CWRU then pioneered integrated education and team teaching in innovative medical education. The new Western Reserve2 curriculum launched in 2006 reunites public health and medicine in a single program of study. As the only medical school in Cleveland, the School has established affiliations with all the major health systems including the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, University Hospitals of Cleveland, Louis Stokes Veterans Administration Medical Center, and Metrohealth Medical Center.
As a major research institution, CWRU enjoys outstanding interdisciplinary graduate programs in outstanding disciplines. Researchers benefit from major NIH funded
centers including the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, Center for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine,
Center for AIDS Research, and a Clinical Translational Service Award
to support research and scholarship. A number of enabling core facilities including Case Center for Proteomics and Bioinformatics,
Transgenic and Targeting Facility, Imaging Core Facility, and many others enhance our research abilities.
We engage hundreds of faculty, students, and postdoctoral trainees in our research programs. We are committed to bringing the brightest faculty and students from a
broad range of backgrounds to tackle the biomedical challenges of the future.
