The state of California recently passed a new law banning smoking in bars.
In less than two months the respiratory health of the bartenders improved significantly, according to a study in The Journal of The American Medical Association.
53 bartenders in the San Francisco area were studied before and after the ban.
74% reported wheezing and shortness of breath before the ban; almost 60% reported they were symptom free after the ban.
This study shows the benefits of a smoke-free work-place.
