New Asthma Treatments

For patients with asthma, especially exercise-induced asthma, there is good news.

The New England Journal of Medicine reports two studies of relatively new medications for asthma.

In one study the doctors found that an inhaler called Salmeterol gives protection against exercise induced asthma if used regularly, not just when symptoms occur.

The other study showed the oral medication called Montelukast, provided significant protection against asthma.

The medicines have to be used carefully to get good results.

If you have asthma be sure you are seeing a doctor.....there are many new treatments available today.

I'm Medical Editor, Dr. Ted Castele, with the Medical Moment.
