Heart Attack Program

Several states participate in a Medicare pilot program to deliver a specific standard of care for heart attack patients.

The program was established by a panel of experts.

The Journal of the American Medical Association reports the results of this study in 1992 and again in 1995.

There was significant improvement in the outcome of the patients between 1992 and 1995, including a significant reduction in mortality.

In 1995, there also was a better result in the states in the study, than in the rest of the nation.

Studies like this one are helpful in making sure all patients get the best care.
