Department of Urology | Education | Residency | Rotations


Residents in Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Case Medical Center Urology Program participate in rotations at the UH Urology Institute—our primaryteaching affiliate— MetroHealth Medical Center, Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center and the Cleveland Clinic, as well as various community hospitals.


University Hospitals (UH) Rotation


Our UH rotation is divided into adult and pediatric urology services. The pediatric urology service is comprised of a two-month PGY3 and PGY5 rotation at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. Cleveland Clinic residents also will rotate through a pediatric service as a junior resident. PGY2 and PGY5 residents comprise the adult service.

  • UH Female Pelvic Surgery (4 months)

  • Cleveland Clinic (Oncology Focus) (2 months)
PGY6/U4
  • VA (4 months)
  • Community Urology (4 months)
  • UH Chief Resident (who has administrative responsibilities as well as overseeing surgical and post-operative care of all UH urology patients) (4 months)


On-call Duties


UH

  • PGY2s and PGY3s share in-house call
  • PGY5s take 1-2 primary calls per month; backup is divided equally

Metro/VA

  • PGY3s and PGY4s share primary call from home
  • PGY6s divide backup responsibilities
