Department of Urology | Education | Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship


Through University Hospitals Urology Institute, the Case Western Reserve University Department of Urology offers the Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) Fellowship. Each year, we train one FPMRS fellow, alternating annually between urology and gynecology candidates. Urologists are required to complete two years of training, while gynecologists complete three years of training.


As an FPMRS fellow, you will be exposed to a variety of clinical problems, large patient volume, and the full breadth of pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. You will work alongside a diverse group of fellowship-trained faculty in female urology, urogynecology, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, neurology, colorectal surgery and physical therapy.


FPMRS Curriculum


Our educational program includes teaching responsibilities, research, conferences and workshops, and lectures.


Additionally, all FPMRS fellows will complete a master’s degree in one of the following areas:

  • clinical research (preferred by the Department)
  • medical economics
  • medical ethics
  • business administration (MBA)
  • public health (MPH)
  • health services research (MHSR)

By program completion, graduates are able to demonstrate complete anatomical knowledge of the female pelvis and mastery of surgical and non-surgical treatments for pelvic floor disorders.
