As part of the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, the Department of Urology's mission is to enhance human health through
excellence in medical education, biomedical research and clinical care.
We have a long tradition of providing the highest quality education in the assessment and management of urologic diseases. Indeed, our program
is well-known for producing more department chairpersons than any other urology department in the United States.
In addition to training the best and the brightest students and physicians, we are forerunners in the development of scientific research and clinical advancements for urological disorders. Each year, our department consistently ranks in the top 25 urology departments for most research funding by the National Institutes of Health.
An equally important part of our mission is providing excellent patient care and offering cutting-edge treatments through University Hospitals Urology Institute located at UH Case Medical Center, our primary teaching affiliate. Our physicians also extend their patient care services to the local and regional communities through the following UH centers: Chronic Pelvic Pain Center, Female Pelvic Medicine and Surgery Center, Men's Health and Stones Disease Center, Pediatric Urology Center,
Research and Innovation Center, Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Center, and Urologic Oncology Center
The department is led by Firouz Daneshgari, MD, Lester Persky Professor and Chairman of the UH Urological Institute. Daneshgari is a surgeon-scientist with an expertise in the research and treatment of female pelvic floor disorders.
