Neurology Residency

"Bootcamp"


After the internship year of internal medicine, Neurology starts off with a full day of orientation for new Neurology residents at UH Cleveland Medical Center and at the VA. This is followed by the “Boot camp” and the summer introductory lecture series.

During the “boot camp” week, patient care responsibilities are minimal or none. Attendings, Senior Neurology Residents and Faculty from the School of Medicine and Mount Sinai Simulation Center run the boot camp where the following topics are covered:

Neurological examination

Overview of the exam and neurology tools

Then, over the summer months, there is a special conference series designed for the new PGY2 residents that covers introductory and emergency neurology. These conference occur every Wednesday at 12 N, Thursday at 12N, Thursday at 4 PM, and Friday at 8 AM. Then, after Labor Day, the regular academic conference schedule begins.

As you can see, the Case Neurology Neurology program has an extremely comprehensive didactic teaching program of conferences and seminars that start at the beginning of PGY2 and continue throughout the residency.
