From the Chiefs:
Thank you for your interest in our department. As third year residents, and the current chiefs, we are excited to tell you that we are becoming the physicians we always wanted to be. It has been a challenging and rewarding journey. We hope you will take a close look at what our residency training program has to offer you. We look forward to answering any questions you may have along the way.
We are a small, close-knit department in the heart of a large, world-class academic medical center and extensive regional health system. Our faculty offers a wide variety of expertise from maternity care to international health, public health, research, mental illness, inpatient medicine, musculoskeletal disorders, and geriatrics. Learning experiences outside of our department provide cutting-edge knowledge; we are privileged to work with specialists who are often internationally recognized in their fields. The extensive regional health system also affords us experiences outside of the tertiary care center in community hospitals in small cities and rural areas.
One of the great things about Family Medicine is the diversity of career paths one can chose. We think our department is especially well prepared to help you develop your particular interests whether they include private practice, maternal and child health, or designing the public health infrastructure for a village in a developing country. We can offer this to you because of the diversity of our faculty and residents, as well as the array of opportunities available due to our relationship with a top-notch medical school.
Don't worry! We also like to have fun! Between organized outings and family picnics we pride ourselves on having a great time. If you're hard working and passionate about your patients, this is the place for you! Do not hesitate to ask us any questions that may help you with your decision.
Sincerely,
Melanie & Amy
