Research & Scholarship: Summer Research

Summer Research (between year 1 & year 2)

First-year medical students have the opportunity to pursue a mentored research project for 8 weeks in the summer between their 1st and 2nd years. Students have the opportunity to pursue a mentored research project in basic science, clinical research, translational research, quality improvement studies, or medical education research. The research may be performed locally, nationally, or internationally. The student must identify a research mentor, write a research proposal and a short summary of their summer research. Successful completion of the summer research will count as a summer research elective that will be put on the students' transcripts for 0 credit. The research from their summer research is eligible to be presented at the yearly Lepow Medical Student Research Day.
