The orthopedic component is integrated in the Neurosciences, Mind, and Musculoskeletal systems. 

In-depth studies of physical diagnosis and anatomy in the context of clinical presentations are incorporated into the curriculum. 

 

During the clinical immersion week Musculoskeletal activities may include:

  1. Cervical spine injuries seminar—athlete transport from the playing field to the hospital, c-spine precautions and clearance
  2. Gait lab experience—“Walk this way.”
  3. Knee Arthroscopy simulation—explore anatomy from the inside-out
  4. Joint and bursal injections seminar and practical—techniques and anatomical landmarks
  5. Extremity immobilization and splinting workshop
  6. Compartment syndrome seminar and simulation—etiology, anatomical correlations and diagnosis
  7. Rehabilitation/physical therapy workshop—patient progression from protected weightbearing to walking
  8. Elective submersion in sports medicine—join the sports medicine team on the sidelines
