Shirley Moore, RN, PhD
Shirley M. Moore, RN, PhD, is the Edward J. and Louise Mellen Professor of Nursing and Associate Dean for Research, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Moore's research focuses on recovery following cardiac events and promoting healthy lifestyles. In a series of studies Dr. Moore developed and tested interventions to improve physical and psychological health following cardiac events. Dr. Moore heads an NIH-funded P30 Center of Excellence in Self-Management Research (SMART Center) that focuses on the development and dissemination of new knowledge regarding patient self-management of chronic illnesses, including diabetes, heart failure, chronic kidney disease, arthritis and asthma. She is the Director of a T32 Training Program for nurse scientists addressing multiple morbidities in vulnerable populations. Dr. Moore is a leader on the national Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) project and serves on the Board of Directors of the Academy of Healthcare Improvement. Dr. Moore is a fellow in the National Academies of Practice, The American Heart Association and the American Academy of Nursing.
