Animal Care & Use (contact the IACUC at 216-368-3815)
Will you be interacting or coming in contact with a live vertebrate animal? If so, the project needs IACUC approval and your name should be added to the protocol.
BioSafety (contact the IBC at 216-368-0134)
Will you be coming in contact with recombinant DNA, or pathogenic or other infectious agents and recombinant viral vectors where the structure of the virus is genetically manipulated? If so, the project may need IBC approval and, if it does, your name should be added to the protocol.
Blood-borne Pathogens (contact EH&S at 216-368-2907)
Will you be interacting or coming in contact with human serum or tissues or animal tissues infected with pathogens that can infect a human? If so, you will need blood-borne pathogen training.
Conflict of Interests (contact the COI Office at 216-368-0838)
Do you have personal financial interests in an entity outside the university (like stock or consulting income)? If you are working on a research project at CWRU, you may need to disclose the outside interests.
Human Embryonic Stem Cell Use (contact the SCRO at 216-368-0134)
Will you be using human embryonic stem cells? If so, the project needs SCRO committee approval and your name should be added to the protocol.

Will you be interacting with human test subjects, trial participants, their data or their specimens? If so, the project needs IRB approval and your name should be added to the protocol.

Intellectual Property/Invention Disclosure (contact Technology Transfer at 216-368-0184)
Are you an inventor with a new idea or discovery that needs protection? Would you like help to evaluate whether your idea is patentable? Do you need a confidentiality agreement to discuss an idea with a company that may want to sponsor your project? The Technology Transfer staff can advise you.
Radiation (contact EH&S at 216-368-2906)
Will you be coming in contact with radiation or a radiation emitting device or substance? If so, the project may need approval by Environmental Health and Safety.
Scientific Integrity (contact the Research Integrity Officer at 216-368-6131)
Do you suspect plagiarism or the falsification or fabrication of data? We have procedures to investigate.
