Effective 11-3-2009: New CCI Statistical Science Office Hours
Investigators in the CWRU School of Medicine and/or University Hospitals are welcome to attend office hours held by CCI statisticians on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 2:00 in Room 6110 of the Wolstein Research Building. Questions regarding study design, statistical software, and data analysis and interpretation are encouraged and will be addressed on a first come, first served basis. Please note that for each investigator,
additional statistical support outside of office hours will be charged at an hourly rate.

NCRR Announces Seven New Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSAs)
Today, the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR), part of the National Institutes of Health, announced seven new Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSAs) to academic health centers. These newest CTSA awards will total more than $170 million over the next five years.
The CTSA consortium, which is now comprised of 46 institutions, is a unique collaboration aimed at improving clinical and translational research across the nation in an effort to bring treatments more quickly to patients.

Large Pilot Funding Available through the CTSC
The Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative announces the annual competition for pilot funding (up to $75,000). The Cleveland Clinical and Translational Sciences Collaborative (CTSC) and the School of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University, will provide seed money to faculty in multidisciplinary programs for Pilot Projects that will lead to efficient use of resources and support of inter-institutional, clinical translational research in the City of Cleveland. Investigators in the basic science and clinical departments in the School of Medicine and the CTSC-affiliated institutions as well as in other departments in the University are eligible.

Notice of Availability of Administrative Supplements for Research on Outcome Measures for Pediatric Clinical Trials in support of the Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act
NCRR announces the availability of CTSA Administrative Supplements to support research on pediatric outcome measures relevant to the Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act (BPCA). These are one-year awards in an anticipated amount of $50,000 - $500,000 per project. A maximum of $5,000,000 may be provided for this solicitation. Applications should be submitted to NCRR, Dr. Mary Purucker, using form PHS 398 and accompanied by a cover letter. This solicitation closes April 30, 2009 at 5:00 PM EDT . Awards will be made by Sept 30, 2009. These awards are being made in partnership with the National Institute of Child Health & Human Development (NICHD). Key Leadership Hired at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine's New Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative
CLEVELAND - June 25, 2008 - Case Western Reserve University's new Clinical and Translatonal Science Collaborative (CTSC) has hired the senior staff required to make the Collaborative fully operational. The initiative, launched with a $64 million grant from the National Institutes of Health's Clinical and Translational Science Awards, seeks to integrate clinical translational research capability between the University and its hospital partners to improve the health of patients in Northeast Ohio. It is one of thirty-eight similar programs funded by the NIH nationwide to ensure that new and promising treatments reach patients.

2008 Practice-Based Network Research Seminar Series
A free seminar series entitled "Practice-Based Network Research Seminar Series" is being offered this fall. The seminars will cover the theory, history, scope, data collection and methods for analysis utilized in practice-based research networks (PBRNs). PBRNs are networks of community-based practices that engage in research and are a key component of the Cleveland Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative. For more information about the PBRN Seminar series and a list of seminar topics by date, please click here. The Coroner's building is adjacent to the Case campus at 11001 Cedar Ave. Free parking is available in the parking garage attached to the Coroner's building. A light meal will be served weekly. Case Western Reserve University's Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative funds pilot studies
Case Western Reserve University Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) has announced the recipients of its 2008 Pilot Project grants. Seven researchers will receive pilot awards from the center to fund early studies in translational science. The CTSC is in its second year, funded from a Clinical and Translational Science Award the university received from the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The program is awarding $430,143 for the seven clinical studies.
