community partnership program

The Community Partnership Program has been developed to facilitate bi-directional dialogue and education between investigators and community representatives. It is designed to improve awareness among investigators of the health priorities and concerns of the community, to utilize community expertise to determine the utility and practicality of proposed studies, and to educate the community on the relationship between research and health, the process of research, and the distinction between research and medical care.

Leadership
Mission

Facilitate and enhance research opportunities through collaborations between research investigators and community residents and organizations

How we support investigators

The Community Research Partnership Core includes a number of innovative activities aimed at developing and enhancing relationships between Cleveland community residents and organizations with area researchers interested in community research. Part of the vision of this core is to help empower community residents in research activities. Community residents and organizations are viewed as researchers as well and are provided with opportunities to develop new projects and ideas. Some examples of the projects within the Core include:

  • Project REECH, which aims to educate community residents about research and how to conduct research.
  • Cultural Competency Trainings, which are designed for researchers interested in learning more about cultural and linguistic issues as they relate to research.
  • Community Research Connections Resource, which assists in linking individuals in the community who are interested in developing new research projects with research investigators from local colleges and universities who are also interested in those research topics. This linkage helps to promote more community involvement in research projects that are more salient to community needs.
  • The Community-Based Research Consult Service, which is a web-based service specifically directed toward researchers new to community research.  It provides a good foundation on getting started in research.
