Cleveland Asian Festival --- Another ResearchMatch Opportunity

On May 21 and 22, 2011, members of the ResearchMatch committee attended the Cleveland Asian Festival in the MetroHealth Asian Plaza.

The committee participated to promote, an online national registry matching people who may be interested in participating in a research study with researchers.  The Cleveland CTSC, including Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth Medical Center and University Hospitals Case Medical Center, is a partner with ResearchMatch, developed out of Vanderbilt University with funding from the National Center of Research Resources (NCRR) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The research education table informed festival attendees about research, how to know if a study is right for them and the various types of research studies, ranging from observation to interventional.

Committee members also educated the community about past and present research opportunities in the local community, including the Foreclosure study and Project HYPE.

ResearchMatch giveaways were a hit and festival attendees eagerly sported ResearchMatch buttons “ask me about” to promote the registry.  The festival was very well attended and the ResearchMatch committee plans to have a table at next year’s event.
