David Satcher, who earned his M.D. and Ph.D. at Case Western Reserve University in 1970, returned to his alma mater Feb. 9 to deliver a talk to students titled “The Journey from Case to Surgeon General.”

Dr. Satcher, surgeon general from 1998 to 2002, was in town as the keynote speaker of the “Promoting Health Through Partnerships” conference. His visit to the medical school was part of the school’s observance of Black History Month.

The alumnus is now interim president of the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, where he is director of the National Center for Primary Care.
