  • The Medical Department of Western Reserve College is founded in downtown Cleveland on November 1, when six faculty members (formerly from the financially-ailing Willoughby University) and 67 students begin the first medical lectures. Tuition cost $72 in 1844 and was divided among the faculty members of the Medical Department. John Delameter serves as the first Dean.
