Case Medical Center

Case Medical CenterUniversity Hospitals of Cleveland (UHC) is the parent institution for the neurological surgery residency program; additional clinical experience is obtained at Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center (MHMC), and the Cleveland Wade Park Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC).

UHC is located adjacent to CWRU School of Medicine in University Circle.  It is locally, nationally, and internationally recognized for patient care, research and teaching.  The 950 bed complex offers 24 hour emergency care with separate facilities for children and adults.  Its main campus includes University MacDonald Women’s Hospital, Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, University Psychiatric Center, Lakeside Pavilion, Alfred and Normal Lerner Tower and Samuel Mather Pavilion.  Lerner Tower was opened in February 1994 as a medical/surgical in-patient facility with 210 private rooms.  The Department of Neurological Surgery shares its floor in Lerner Tower and a fourteen-bed intensive care unit with the Department of Neurology.  The Mather Pavilion, which also opened in February 1994, mainly houses the adult operating rooms, out-patient suites, and ancillary services.  In 1997, UHC was pleased to open Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital building, The Horvitz Tower.  The neurosurgical department has four designated operating rooms, two of which are connected by an electrophysiology monitoring room and are fully equipped to perform microsurgical, stereotactic and endoscopic surgery.

UHC is located in the middle of the CWRU campus, adjacent to the Case Western Reserve undergraduate, graduate, and professional facilities.

UHC is located in the middle of the CWRU campus and resident physicians are members of an exciting university community. University athletic facilities are open to resident physicians on evenings and weekends. One-to-One is an excellent fitness center located across the street from the hospital complex, and it offers reduced rates for residents. A campus film society and theater provide additional entertainment opportunities.
